David Brooks, SRA, AI-RRS, CRP is a designated Senior Residential Member and a Residential Review Specialist Member of the Appraisal Institute. Mr. Brooks has served on the Board of Directors as a Director of the Houston Chapter of the Appraisal Institute from 2000 to 2008. Mr. Brooks served as the President of the Houston Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 2008. He served as Vice-President in 2007 and Secretary/Treasurer in 2006. Mr. Brooks has served on the Admissions Committee of the Appraisal Institute. Mr. Brooks served as Residential Education Committee Chair for the Houston Chapter of the Appraisal Institute from 1998 to 2004 and 2006 to 2007. The Appraisal Institute conducts a voluntary certification program of continuing education for its designated members. He is currently certified through December 31, 2027 under the continuing education program. Mr. Brooks is a State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser as recognized by the Texas Real Estate Appraiser Certification Committee and the Texas Real Estate Commission holding license #TX-1321233-R. Mr. Brooks is a designated CRP (Certified Relocation Professional) of the Employee Relocation Council. The Employee Relocation Council conducts a continuous education program for its designated members. Mr. Brooks is an approved appraiser for both the Veterans Administration and Federal Housing Administration. He is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker holding license #247885 and is the designated Realtor for David Brooks & Associates, Inc. with the Houston Board of Realtors.

Mr. Brooks has resided in Houston, Texas since 1977. He is a native of the Norfolk and Arlington, Virginia areas. He graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington. He attended Old Dominion University and received the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Real Estate Finance. Mr. Brooks’ education in the appraisal field includes courses in Principles of Real Estate, Principles of Real Estate Appraisal, Principles of Real Estate Finance, Principles of Real Estate Investment, and Principles of Real Estate Law. He has also successfully completed the requirements for Residential Properties Course VIII through the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers.

Mr. Brooks began real estate appraising in March 1977 with the University Savings Association and was subsequently promoted to supervisor of the appraisal department in the Clear Lake City office. From June 1978 to July 1981, he was employed by Norvel F. Favela, MAI. Mr. Brooks has been self employed, full-time fee appraiser since August 1981. From 1983 to 1989 he was co-owner of Brooks, Rockwell & Associates, Inc. Mr. Brooks is owner of David Brooks & Assoc., Inc. His primary responsibilities are appraising and appraisal review of one-to-four family dwellings and vacant land for individuals, institutional investors, mortgage companies and national relocation companies. These appraisals covered the entire range of purposes and property types from modest single family starter homes to residences that are some of the largest and most expensive homes in the entire metropolitan area.
